Technical Specifications:
On January 24, 1984, Apple released the Macintosh, A revolutionary new computer, years ahead of it’s time. The Mac 128k as as it is called today (because it had 128 kilobytes of RAM), was the first affordable personal computer to use a mouse and a graphical user interface. Its GUI was based off of Apple's revolutionary, but unsuccessful, Lisa computer. The Mac was also the first personal computer to use the 3.5
inch floppy drive. Despite its revolutionary features, the Macintosh had a slow financial start, with sales in the hundreds of thousands, but by 1985, sales picked up so much that Apple began to develop new Mac models and soon and entire line of products under the Macintosh name. The Mac line eventually superseded the Apple II line in sale, and in 1994, Apple discontinued the Apple IIe, the last member of the Apple II line, marking the beginning of the evolution toward Apples modern day product pool. The Macintosh 128k originally sold for $2,495.
